
CIFMAN College was founded in 2009, under the umbrella of CIFMAN Nigeria Limited, by the late Christopher Olusegun Sawyerr. He was a finance expert and philanthropist, who was dedicated to the development of human capacity in Nigeria. Although the school is a family-owned private institution, it is governed by a board made up of multi-disciplinary professionals with proven expertise, to provide strategic oversight and governance. In addition to the board that was setup immediately after the establishment of the school, staff members comprising talented educators and student support professionals were employed to set up at the tactical level and execute the daily operations in alignment with the vision of the school.
In 2010, the college was approved by the Federal Ministry of Education of Nigeria and the British Council, to deliver the Nigerian and British curricula to secondary school students at the junior and senior levels. Since the approval, we have presented 15 sets for NECO BECE, Lagos State BECE, British Checkpoint at the junior level and 12 sets for WAEC SSCE, NECO SSCE, UTME, and IGCSE at the senior level. Our students have consistently performed outstandingly in these national and international examinations, an outcome which underscores the quality of education that we have provided to our students over the years.
In the first year of operation, students were only enrolled into JSS1 and JSS2 but as the school continued to grow, enrolment got extended to the senior school and we have enrolled over 1,500 students since then, while maintaining an annual school population range of 250 – 380 students. Having presented students for national examinations for 12 years at the senior level, over 500 students have graduated from the school, some of which completed their tertiary education from international schools and others in top Nigerian Universities.
Over the years, we have maintained a learning structure that combines academic, skill, and character development programs to help our learners build competence. This approach has equipped our students with the ability to build life skills and apply what has been learnt to real life situations. Additionally, the co-curricular programs have provided opportunities for our students to win several awards in academic and non-academic competitions before graduation.
